Su Jin liked her job, don’t get her wrong. She could easily think of so many worse places she could be at right now, but sometimes it just got kind of old. Especially since they found a new assistant and they didn’t really need her as much anymore. There was only so much fun you could have scanning pages and finding ways to busy herself while she waited for something else to come up for her to do. If she didn’t like the people that she worked with, she probably would have quit a while ago.

Instead, she found herself in Jae Ki’s kitchen, like she often was, dancing along a little to the music she was playing through her headphones while she made some bibimbap for dinner (or a snack, depending on how you wanted to look at it.) She might be a little embarrassed if someone walked in, but really it wouldn’t have been the first time she’d made a fool of herself while she was working here, and it definitely wouldn’t be the last.

She smiled at her work when she was finally finished. It wasn’t a hard recipe to make by any means, but it still looked, and smelled, pretty darn good. If there was one good thing about her job here it was that it made her hone her cooking skills quite a bit, not that she had been a bad chef to start with. She grabbed two bowls, intending to come back and get hers once she handed those out to Jae Ki and Ji Ahn. However, she only saw one person in the other room. “Did Ji Ahn leave?” she asked curiously, handing one of the two bowls over to Jae Ki as she did so.

Although she was born there, Su-jin doesn't remember much of the time she spent in Busan as a child. She remembers living in a tiny apartment with her mom, but she doesn't remember ever meeting her father. She remembers the sweet ajumma from the apartment beside hers that she'd hang out and play cards or watch dramas with sometimes, but she doesn't remember the string of guys that came in and out of her own apartment while she was gone. She remembers her mom taking her to the park and playing with her, but she doesn't remember the nights she'd been too drunk to even tuck her into bed.

Most of all though, she remembers the last day she saw her mom. She remembers packing up her little suitcase and being so excited to go see her grandparents down in Ulleungdo. She remembers the drive down there, the ferry ride out to the little island, and having so much fun with her grandparents. But she also remembers sitting on her grandparents' porch for six hours waiting for her mom's car to come back up their driveway, only to wake back up in the bed in her grandparents' guest room. She remembers sitting there for a full week, refusing to leave the house for even a minute because "What if my mom comes back when I'm gone?" It wasn't until sometime in the second week that she finally let her grandparents take her somewhere, and that was only because they let her tape a note to the front door telling her mom where they went, and that they'd be back soon.

This went on for years. Even as she got used to her new home with her grandparents in Ulleungdo, she couldn't help but feel a little hopeful every time she heard a knock on the door or saw a car that looked even a little like her mom's. Still, she couldn't say that she didn't like the little town she was now living in, even if she didn't like the circumstances that put her there. It was a cute area, and she made friends with some of the other kids in her neighborhood before she even started school.

When it came to school, Su-jin was little more than average. She studied hard like most of the other kids did, but she still usually ended up falling right around the middle when it came to her grades. Her grandparents seemed happy enough with them though, always remarking that her mother had never cared much for school and neither of them had been very good at it either.

Before she knew it; however, her days of grade school were coming to an end, and she found herself faced with the question of "what she wanted to do" more and more often. She'd always hated that question, mostly because she never knew how to answer it. So many of her classmates had seemed like they knew what they were going to do since the day they were born, and she was almost an adult and still lost.

So she decided to play it safe, go to university and find something that could be useful for a lot of different things. That'd buy her four more years to figure out where exactly she wanted to be anyway. Surely she'd have a plan by the time she graduated, right?

Well, apparently just buying yourself some more time wasn't really the best strategy because she quickly found herself in the same situation she'd been in back in high school when she was getting ready to graduate and she still didn't know what she wanted to do with the degree that she was about to get.

So she started looking for any job she could find. She picked up a job as a barista fairly quickly, and while she didn't hate it, she didn't like the paycheck she got every week, and she knew that it definitely wasn't what she wanted to be doing five years down the line. So she started her job hunt over again, and eventually managed to come across an assistant's gig. When she looked further into it, she found out that it was actually for the author of one of her favorite mangas. At first she was a little discouraged because she didn't have any drawing experience, or any experience working as an assistant, but the lady she talked to about the job didn't seem to mind, and she was soon hired.

As it turned out, she was mostly hired based on her looks, something she didn't really like at first, but ended up deciding that she couldn't complain. She tried to learn how to help them with making the mangas, but she's pretty sure that she just slowed them down more than anything. She still has her job though, even if she mostly just cooks and looks after everyone now.

Personality wise, Su-jin is a lot like a puppy. She's energetic, enthusiastic, friendly, playful, and loyal. She's not exactly the brightest person, or even the most competent sometimes, but she's a hard worker, and she's always willing to at least try to do what other people ask of her.

Although she's had her fair share of setbacks so far, she's a very optimistic person, and she's always willing to try and look on the bright side of things. It doesn't matter what situation she's put in, she'll try to make the best out of it.

Su-jin is a fairly innocent person, and she was pretty sheltered as a kid. So, while she probably thinks that she can take care of herself and know when people are trying to take advantage of her, she is rather naive, and even a little bit gullible.

Overall though, Su-jin is a very sweet and happy person that doesn't really know what she's doing, but she's going to do her best to enjoy whatever it is.

III

THE SHIPS

BESTIES: honestly this is probably going to be the easiest section to get into? She's a very friendly person and just generally considers everyone to be her friend, so if you know her at all, she'd probably end up putting you in here. Suzy trusts people easily, and if you hang out with her twice there's a pretty good chance that you'll know more about her than you probably want to. but she's sweet and more than willing to do whatever you want her too. It doesn't matter if it's been a month or five years since you guys have last seen each other, she'd probably act like no time has gone by at all. Also, she's never had very much in terms of money, but she doesn't really care if you have or not, it's all the same to her.

BITCHES: on the other hand, I feel like this would probably be the hardest category to find yourself in? the people that she doesn't like and doesn't get get along with are pretty few and far between, and they probably don't even know that she doesn't like them because she's just too nice to really say anything about it? If you want your character to not like her though go right ahead!

BABES: Okay so she's had boyfriends before(and maybe a girlfriend or two too), and she's not exactly inexperienced but she's also not really super experienced either? she's definitely not the type to sleep around or anything(although i could see her being almost like a serial monogamist or something tbh). But she needs pretty much everything! (even though i might have a couple of plans for her already)
