if only you could know
"... But I guess the others all had plans already," Mi Cha was saying as they walked through the mall. She had tried to get her fellow members to join her out for lunch before going who knew where else, and had begged Ji Seuk to join them as well. It seemed as though everyone had been doing their own thing since their sudden arrival (or temporary disposal depending on the individual opinion) to Busan. And it felt strange to go from constantly all seeing one another to suddenly each being up to have their own lives.

Wonderful, but strange.

Mi Cha had thought it could be nice for them all to go out to lunch together, and from there to either part ways or find other things to do as a group. However, the other NOVA girls all seemed to have had better things to do with their time. Which left just herself and their manager. Honestly the idea had her both excited and nervous. She had been trying her best not to allow herself to be alone with Ji Seuk for extended periods of time as of late. But at the same time, there was still a strong part of her that was thrilled at the idea of having his company all to herself for a little while. It was conflicting.

The mall was crowded, and as they walked through a particularly thick crowd of people, the girl absentmindedly latched onto her manager's arm. She had always been an affectionate girl by nature to start with, but it had always been normal for her to grab hold of the nearest familiar face if they were moving through a crowded area. Be it her manager, one of the other girls in her group, a cordi, or one of the company's other idols if any were around; she didn't want to get separated from those she was travelling with so she would make sure they stuck together.

And okay, maybe she was using it as an excuse to be a little close to him at least for those few short seconds. Mi Cha knew she needed to distance herself more from him, but she wasn't about to stop being herself just for his sake. "Oh, there it is!" she declared suddenly, a smile lighting up her face as she pointed towards the noodle shop. "Come on!" Giving his arm a gentle tug, she quickened her pace until they were inside Su Noodles. She had only been there once before since the move to Busan, but was eager to visit again and with company this time at that!

this was not the future he had foreseen in the past but he supposed it wasn't a terrible one either. his work was stressful to a certain extent but he came to enjoy it. the girls he looked after became like younger sisters to him and they were just as lovable and annoying as them. after their debut, he'd never felt more protective of them. from the nosy reporters to the over excited fans. they were things he hadn't been mentally prepared for and now he was constantly looking over his shoulder.

then there was this. or rather there was mi cha. it was hard to pinpoint when it started. when her laughter, smiles, and overall silliness just penetrated his skin. in the beginning he laughed it off as work interfering with his life so much. he spent so much time with these girls so it was normal to be confused at some point right? but things just spiraled from one complication to the next and now here they were. to the point where his heart fluttered every time she was close by but his automatic reaction was to pull away because of it.

so as not to hurt her feelings, he placed his hand on the small of her back to guide her forward instead. "what place?" oh. he smirked and shook his head. of course she'd be craving noodles. the girls had been on such strict diets while they were promoting that now they craved everything they didn't get to have enough of. "let's try to make it quick though" he spoke up but she was already pulling him again, "don't forget you're an idol now there's no such thing as privacy" he was relieved though that once they were inside there weren't too many people and they didn't seem to notice their presence. "do you know what you want?" the benefits of being a manger? company credit card.

if only you could know
Admittedly Mi Cha was a little disappointed when he pulled his arm away. Disappointed, yes, but not surprised. It was just like him after all, so it was impossible to think too much on the action. Besides, though he had pulled away nearly as suddenly as she had latched onto him, that didn't cut off all contact between the two. Within seconds she felt his hand pressing against her back, guiding her forward as they continued to walk through the mall. The smile returned to her lips.

What place, he asked? Was there even a need to question in the first place? Mi Cha's favorite foods always seemed to be noodle dishes. Which the girls typically weren't allowed much of (at least beyond ramyun or the like) unless is was a very special occasion. Damn those strict diets they were always being put on! But she was certain that she was't the only Nova member that was going to use this break to do everything they never got a chance to as idols.

And that was maybe the one downside of having Ji Seuk there with her; he seemed as mindful as ever of her job and what that meant for her daily routine. But it was a small price to pay in exchange for his company and full attention for a change. "Yah! It won't kill you to relax and enjoy yourself a little," she teased him, her gaze shifting away from Ji Seuk to look for an open place to sit. "We're on a break, let's have some fun!" He could worry all he wanted about the five girls' images when they were all back in Seoul. But for now they might as well kick back and have a good time on this impromptu time off they were all getting.

Though she had let go after pulling him inside of the noodle shop with her, soon Mi Cha was off leading the way to a small table. After taking a seat in one of the two chairs, she let her elbows rest on the table so she could prop her chin in her hands for the time being while she thought. "I'm not sure yet. Maybe japchae. Oh, or kongguksu! I don't know...." She laughed a little at her own inability to make up her mind, smiling in amusement as she looked upwards at him. "What about you, do you know what you want yet?"

relax, she says. have fun, she says. that's a lot easier said than done when you have to look after an idol girl group. especially when there was confusing emotions involved. "a break from promotions doesn't mean you're free from everything in general. did you forget that there are variety show appearances, mc offers, cf schedules?" he considered their work over the top sometimes and he obviously witnessed first hand how the girls became tired after non stop schedules. but that's why he was there. he was there to make sure they had what they needed and that they were in good condition. ji seuk also had to make sure that he was in good condition to keep up with them, that included his mental health and he was sure that mi cha was having an effect that area. why did she have to smile like that?

sighing, he continued to follow her despite his better judgement. it was good that there wasn't too many people. he had no doubt that there would be maybe some random person that noticed them but nothing that he had to worry about. he was just the manager after all. ji seuk took his seat and tapped his fingers over the surface of the table. there was that smile again. "japchae probably" he answered back just as the waitress appeared to take their order.

if only you could know
Mi Cha couldn't help but to sigh as she listened to him list off the responsibilities she and the other girls all still had to deal with. He had a point, she couldn't deny that. But still! “I don't think they would have sent us this far from Seoul if they still wanted us to be involved in all that...” was her attempt at reason. Of course, she couldn't with any sort of confidence say that she knew just what was going on in the minds of the company heads. But it seemed feasible to her that they really did have a legitimate break, at least for a little while.

And besides, did it really all have to be all business all the time? Granted, the way things had been as of late, she couldn't say she was surprised. And maybe it was for the better. It wasn't so bad either, after all. Mi Cha had always admired how focused he was on the girls, how attentive not just to their schedules but their well-being he had always been. Why should that be any different now? That said... “Loosen up a little, oppa! You of all people deserve some time to relax. Just try to have fun, please?” The statement was followed by a small pout.

She worried about him. It might have been part of Ji Seuk's job to worry about the five girls in his care, but that didn't mean she couldn't be concerned for him as well. He worked so hard always keeping on top of the group and taking care of them! Hopefully he took care of himself as well, though she could never fully be sure. It was another disguised blessing for this sudden break, their manager could relax as well now! Theoretically speaking, that was.

Silence took over while she mulled over the different options at the shop, though her attention immediately snapped back to him to hear his answer to her question. Just like it always did; he always seemed to have her full attention no matter what was happening. If he was nearby, chances were she was paying more attention to Ji Seuk than much of anything else in the world around her. That wasn't a good thing and she knew it, but she couldn't help it! He was captivating, she was drawn to him like a moth to a flame fluttering closer and closer despite all knowledge that getting too close could mean certain destruction... Okay maybe that was a little over-dramatic.

“Hm... Maybe I'll get the kongguksu after all then,” she mused, thinking aloud. She soon fell quiet again however to allow Ji Seuk to order his food before she did the same. Mi Cha tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. Now what? Suddenly she felt so awkward! In all honestly, the girl wasn't used to being alone with her manager. Not like this at the very least. She was happy for their little lunch date though. But maybe she shouldn't call it a date, not even mentally. The mere thought made her cheeks feel a little warmer, though she had to hope no color showed. No no no, it was better to try and stray far from those sorts of thoughts. But how could she when he was sitting right there across from her, just the two of them?

Mi Cha turned her gaze away from his, choosing to look out the window lest her eyes linger on him for too long. “So, um...” All of a sudden she felt tongue-tied and completely unsure of what to say to him. “Is there anything you want to do after this? When I talked to the other girls earlier, it sounded like they'd all be busy all day so I guess it's just us. Unless you had other things you wanted to do...”

he sighs then. he wants to loosen up for her sake, so she doesn't feel uncomfortable but he was hesitant. towards the middle of his career he like do think that he was comfortable. to the point that he had a good and close oppa-donsaeng relationship. "don't worry about me having fun okay? as long as you're fine" but he knew that she needed him to have some semblance of entertainment or she'd just feel awkward. "i'll try okay? let's just get on with the food" he'd end up getting some ramen. he wasn't too fancy, but she could really get anything she wanted at this point. he wouldn't nag her about her diet for now.

the truth was that ji seuk didn't even enjoy enforcing the diets. it was stressful watching the girls lose so much weight in a short amount of time. it was worse reading the comments about their bodies. no matter how hard they worked, the average netizen still managed to find some reason to be cruel. it was the reason he tried to shield them from such negativity but he knew they'd sneak on blogs regardless. the ugly side of stardom and he was helpless most of the time.

"let's get that then" he signaled to the waitress so she could take their order. "two of the kongguksu. water for me and whatever the young lady would like"

he pauses for a moment at her idea. why did the other girls decide to have their own plans? it's not like he wants to just abandon mi cha either but there were warning bells going on off in his head. "we can go out if you want. is there anything you want to do? or go? if there is now is the perfect time to bring it up. you may not get the free time later on"it was a miracle they were getting this long, but the company would no doubt drop a come back on them at any moment. "no bars" he narrows his stare and quirks an eyebrow.

if only you could know
He told her not to worry, but that was something easier said than done. She could only imagine how tiring it had to have been, constantly running around taking care of the five idols. She just wanted to ensure, if she could, that he was relaxing and having a good time while they were on break as well. Who knew just how long it would last after all! "Okay..." she agreed with a small nod, not seeming fully convinced but also clearly not wanting to argue. He knew better than her if he was fine or not after all. She just had to hope that he was taking care of himself as well as he always took care of her and the other girls.

The way that he called her "young lady" to the waitress brought a small smile back to her lips. Then again, what didn't make her smile when Ji Seuk was around? And it wasn't even that there was anything special about what he said. She had been called "young lady" plenty of times, both in a positive and negative form. But it sounded more... Sophisticated than just "the girl". And far better than if he had called her a kid or something along those lines. Which she supposed wouldn't really be all that out of the question, there was a good six years' difference between them. But than again, since when did a thing like age matter?

Mi Cha was quick to snap herself out of her thoughts as to not keep the waitress waiting around. "Um... Could I have a coffee please?" she requested politely. "Thank you." Then once the waitress was gone, her focus was again shifted solely to Ji Seuk. To be truthful she hadn't been expecting him to agree to go out elsewhere with her after this. Not alone at least. So there was no hiding the pleasant surprise that let itself show when he agreed. "Really?" Her face seemed to light up excitedly as her smile widened to reach her eyes. "No bars, promise!" The idea of going out drinking with Ji Seuk regardless of how she felt about him just didn't seem right. No matter how much she liked him, he was still her manager and something about going to a bar with her manager just felt weird.

Of course now came the question of what to do? Something with a lot of people for sure. Where she couldn't be tempted into anything too image-threatening. Not to mention that was that stupid "relationship" she had been forced into by the company just before NOVA's sudden break with one of her label mates. She couldn't go jeopardizing that no matter how much she may have wanted to. "Hm... We could go to a movie or something maybe? Or a park, or... I don't know."

he's a manager. it's only normal that he do things like that with the girls he looked after. if they needed to go somewhere, he had to go with them. it was an obligation. this was how he reasoned all of this. that was why he was there to begin with sharing a meal. to keep her company, to make sure no one bothered her, and on occasion bust out with the company card to pay for things. once they had ordered, he pretended to look over the menu again. look at the tile on the floor and the specials on the wall. anything so that he could avoid looking at mi cha. the drinks came to them sooner and he eyed the coffee suspiciously. ji seuk had never been a huge fan of the girls drinking coffee, but it wasn't something he nagged about constantly.

ji seuk nodded, in relief somewhat that she wouldn't try to push for finding bars. adding alcohol to this mix was not a wise idea and he was all the more happy to avoid it. he took a sip of his water and wrinkled his nose in response to her suggestions. obviously location made a difference. he couldn't have mi cha risk getting caught out in public at random. they'd just get hassled by fan and/or reporters. "movie or park . . . " he mused "a movie would probably be the safer choice right?"

when was the last he had gone to a movie? he was still in college from what he could remember. on a date too but he couldn't quite remember what kind of movie it had been. clearly the movie hadn't been the center of attention at the time. "what sort of movie would you be interested in ?"

if only you could know
Mi Cha was never one to forget her manners, and once the drinks arrived she thanked the waitress politely. Raising the small cup to her lips, she blew on it just a little so she wouldn't burn herself before taking a little sip. While she knew Ji Seuk had never been much of a fan of the girls drinking things like coffee, it was one thing she just refused to give up. Besides, with how little sleep NOVA tended to get when they were promoted, more often than not she needed the caffeine to keep her awake and bubbly. Okay, so she was always bubbly, but still! That was her excuse at the very least.

After lowering the cup once again, one of her hands raised up to brush her hair back away from her face. She wound up just gathering it all to rest over one shoulder for the time being. From there, her chin rested gently in her hand as she watched him think over what might be a good thing to do afterwards. Another bright smile came over her, her eyes squinting up into two little half-moons as she nodded her agreement. "Movie it is then!" the young lady declared happily.

Ji Seuk's question was a good one, and one that made her fall quiet again as she thought. What would be a good movie to see? Nothing too childish naturally, but that left a number of choices that could have all sorts of implications. How intimate a setting movies could be. Maybe she hadn't thought that through when suggesting it. But he seemed to like the idea. And truthfully it did have a nice balance between public and private; they could be left alone but still plenty of people around in general. "Hm..."

Mi Cha's brow furrowed slightly. Anything that relied too heavily on romance was out she supposed. Otherwise it might feel too much like a date. A comedy or an action movie were both good possibilities then. Of course, she didn't know the first thing about action movies - they had never been too strong an interest of hers - but she could manage as long as it meant preventing anything from feeling tense or awkward between them. For there was always a scary movie instead. Then again she had never done well with horror movies. Granted, she couldn't deny that the thought of spending a couple of hours justifiably cuddled up next to him if they did end up at a horror movie was appealing. But she had a feeling he wouldn't like that. Finally she merely sighed and shrugged slightly, "I'm up for anything," Mi Cha told him. "Well... As long as it's not too scary or I'd probably be hiding behind you the whole time."
